About Us ECO

Dokuz Eylül University Department of Economics in English educates fully equipped economists in the fields of theoretical and applied economics through its young, dynamic, and highly qualified academic staff. Our curriculum covers four main areas: economic theory, economic policy, economic history, economic development, and international economics. Our students not only gain a strong command of the theoretical foundations of economics, but also develop strategic, analytical, and innovative problem-solving competencies. In our department, where professionalism, participation, equality, and creativity are encouraged, we aim to educate leading professionals who can effectively conduct research processes, analyze global and contemporary economic issues, present their work in foreign languages within an international context, and act with ethical values and an awareness of sustainability.

The strong and accredited infrastructure offered by our department provides our graduates with broad and prestigious career opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Thanks to the medium of instruction being English and the global vision provided by the curriculum, our graduates are primarily preferred for analyst, specialist, and managerial positions in national and international banks, multinational companies, management consulting firms, and independent audit companies in the private sector. Graduates who aim for careers in the public sector may also undertake critical roles in prestigious institutions such as the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Competition Authority, and public banks. In addition, the entrepreneurship and leadership skills acquired within the framework of the Faculty of Business values of tolerance, unity, self-confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurship enable our graduates to bring innovative business ideas to life. At the same time, the advanced research and analytical thinking education they receive paves the way for them to build strong academic careers by being admitted to graduate programs at distinguished universities in Türkiye and around the world.
