FoB’s SDG5 project portfolio demonstrates a coherent, multi-level approach aligned with the School’s mission to advance inclusive, responsible, and globally engaged business education. Projects supported by Erasmus+ and COST collectively strengthen gender-responsive research methods, advance evidence on gender diversity in governance, and support women’s transition into the workforce and entrepreneurship. This alignment enables systematic knowledge transfer into curriculum and stakeholder engagement, evidencing mission-consistent impact. Together, the portfolio reflects sustained international collaboration and measurable contribution to SDG5-oriented outcomes. The projects listed below illustrate the scope and continuity of this impact.

Volcanoes’ Women Co-Creation – Empowering women transitioning into the workforce and revitalizing women entrepreneurs (VoWoCo)
Erasmus+ Key Action 220

01/10/2025- 31/01/2028
The VoWoCo project directly supports gender equality and economic resilience by empowering women returning to the workforce, seeking to revitalize their businesses, or aiming for career change. Evidence-based analyses conducted within the project reveal, with scientific data, the limitations faced by women entrepreneurs, such as lack of financial management skills, digital competencies, and constraints stemming from family responsibilities, and develop ways to acquire skills in these areas. Innovative business plans developed through a three-way mentoring process based on a “co-creation” model increase women’s professional legitimacy in the business world and create new employment value in local communities, constituting a sustainable regional development model.

In line with AACSB’s vision of social impact, the project builds a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem integrating higher education institutions with the business world, SMEs, and civil society. The developed open-access digital learning platform and dissemination activities aimed at reaching more than 3,000 stakeholders ensure the democratization of academic knowledge and its transformation into social benefit through lifelong learning. Furthermore, the strategic recommendations presented to policymakers extend the project’s impact from the individual to the institutional and national levels by promoting structural reforms that support women’s entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth, thereby reinforcing universities’ strategic role in social transformation.

FoB operationalizes its SDG10 commitment through mutually reinforcing activities in research, teaching, and stakeholder engagement. The diversity and continuity of externally funded and institutionally supported projects demonstrate the Faculty’s sustained scholarly capacity to address inequality through research, policy dialogue, and applied knowledge production within the mission of Dokuz Eylül University.

FoB’s research engagement is supported by participation in international research networks and externally funded projects addressing migration, social inclusion, and inequality.
